If you are considering moving to Kits in the near future, make sure you read this first! After all, you want to know what you’re getting yourself into, right? Kitsilano is a top tourist destination and people come here for a week’s vacation and end up falling in love with its unique shops, restaurants and of course it’s beaches. If you like to swim, well Kits pool is where you want to be. At 137 meters (150 yards), it’s North America’s longest pool and the view isn’t too shabby.
As a transplant myself, I will give you my unbiased opinion of Kits. It’s fabulous !! I’ve been visiting Vancouver for over 20 years and I always had to make some time for a visit to Kits. Whether it was shopping on West Broadway or the shops of 4th Avenue, or going to a great local restaurant, Kits had everything in one neighbourhood that I was looking for.
The other great reason for living in Kits, the people. Everyone is happy and friendly, who wouldn’t be living in this neighbourhood. You can walk out your front door and in minutes be at one of the fabulous neighbourhood beaches or taking a walk along the sea wall.
If you want some exercise, you might have a hard time choosing what activity ! What I’ve found since moving to Kits is you want to exercise and get out and about because the neighbourhood just embraces healthy living.
Yoga certainly comes to mind given that this is the birthplace of Lululemon. My neighbourhood Yoga studio is Semperviva, but you can walk a couple of blocks in any direction and have many other amazing studios.
Running or riding a bike ! Kitsilano has great paths and trails through the neighbourhood or along the sea wall. The choice is yours. I love walking the sea wall and just taking in the breathtaking views of the mountains and the oceans. I don’t think you could ever get tired of this, I certainly don’t !
If you like to shop, West Broadway and 4th Avenue provide many options to choose from. If you happen to get hungry while shopping, take your pick. I think Kitsilano has a Restaurant that would appeal to just about anyone. If it’s football season then the Local on Cornwall is the place to be. One of my favourite local finds near Granville Market is Go Fish. It get’s busy in the summer, but when the tourists go home the boys serve up a mean Fish & Chips.
Thinking of moving to Vancouver, look no further, Kits is the place to be….
